Hi friends,
I'm a super lucky person. I'm healthy, I have food to eat, and I'm surrounded by fantastic people between my family, friends, co-workers, and the NJ music scene. I try to remind myself of this everyday. I have a good life.
Sometimes I find a dollar on the street, and sometimes I just missed the train. But this time a flash flood caused a sewage backup to occur in my basement bedroom in Jersey City Heights and destroyed most of my belongings.
The basement bedroom that Anders and I share was filled with 3-6 inches of dirty gross stinky water. I lost a lot of musical equipment, all my furniture, my mattress, clothing, and countless other small personal items. My renters insurance company has informed me that even though I pay for water damage protection, I am not covered for sewage back-ups.
Throughout this entire process I've been trying to recount all the ways I'm so lucky. I haven't lost sight of that. However, these were a lot of possessions that I acquired slowly over time, and I simply do not have the means to replace them at once. Without an amp it's hard to play guitar, and without guitar cases it's hard to play gigs. Without my bed it's hard to sleep, and without my shoes it's hard to look fly. Any amount that you are able to provide would help immensely with getting my life back on track so I can get back to fingerpicking and my longterm online romance with David Attenborough(my man).
