Hello everyone,

 

Many of you know that my brother Eric's son, Andrew, has Down's Syndrome and has been in the hospital in Iowa for 5 weeks now. What started as some swelling and an ER visit has turned into multiple surgeries including an aortic valve repair ( he had surgery on his heart when he was 6 weeks old) a pacemaker, bronchoscopies, CT, EKG's and other necessary medical procedures for many issues that have arisen during his stay thus far. We are so grateful to God for many miracles He has given sweet Andrew through his wonderful medical team in Iowa City and the seamless transfer from Mason City, but we need some help. Andrew lives at home with his parents who care for him, and is a sweet, loving young man. His mom and dad have needed to stay in a hotel to be with him in his room 24/7 for 5 weeks now, 2 hours from home, and things are piling up. One of them needs to be at his bedside all the time, as when he comes out of sedation it is scary and confusion for him. Each day, sometimes every hour, it seems has been a new medical challenge or change, resulting in another procedure or decision needed. While we would appreciate the continued prayer support for strength and healing and rest and hope in God, as God has given miracles to Andrew, we are also to the point where some financial help would be greatly appreciated. His parents love him dearly and just want him to be able to come home!  The depth of love and commitment that the family has given to loving Andrew well is amazing.   Any funds raised would go towards helping them with the financial strain associated with this ongoing medical hospital stay away from home for Andrew.
