Jennifer’s Medical Journey

Hi, my name is Crystal and I am fundraising for a wonderful friend and an amazing person who has fallen on hard times. Although she knows her help and strength comes from Jesus, she needs some of her brothers and sisters in Christ to surround and support her during her medical journey! Several months ago, Jennifer Greenberg started having severe back and stomach pain. Although she didn’t have insurance, she went to the doctor who sent her to PT to get some exercises, which seemed to help some. Eventually pain progressed and Jennifer started working and saving to get some medical insurance, that she pays for privately and is expensive. When insurance became active she immediately scheduled an appointment with another doctor, who immediately referred her onto a gynecological oncologist. When she went in for the appointment with the oncologist, the doctor scheduled immediate surgery to remove a massive tumor, which was growing from her ovaries, filling up her entire abdomen, affecting her kidneys, colon, spine and causing debilitating pain! Hardly having time to process, she was thrust into surgery with fear of what could not seen on scans, like cancer, colon and spinal cord issues, kidney problems, and other long term damage, she also had an insane fear of the cost of surgery, recover, and treatment. The day before surgery, she learned that her insurance would only cover $1000 of her estimated $17,000 hospital stay and only small percentage of the remainder of the medical bills, including treatment, physicians, therapy, and all parts of the healing and recovery process. Although she is home recovering from surgery now, we are still not sure what recovery even includes yet (radiation, chemo, physical therapy, etc), but we are praying that she can focus on healing, and not the growing number of medical bills. We will continue to update everyone on Jennifer’s story and recovery! We understand that not everyone can give, we appreciate and understand the power of prayer, but please give if you can! My sweet friend is basically being punished for having insurance, learning later that the hospital would have ONLY charged her $4000 for initial treatment and surgery if she wasn’t insured, but Jennifer trying to do all things right, waited until she was covered. If you know Jenn, you know she is always a bright light to all around her and always wanting to help and serve others. Also, she is an awesome mom to 3 kids, a Grandmom to a beautiful granddaughter, and a mentor to many students in her ministry. Now it is our time to help her on her journey of healing! She is excited to be healed and eventually go back to work and back around the students she serves! Let’s help her get through this terrible process by loving her well! Thank you all!
