Mara's FFS recovery fund

Hi all,

For those of you who don’t know me, my name’s Mara and I’m a transgender woman currently scheduled to receive facial feminization surgery from Dr Xavier Lachiever in France on May 17th. I’ve been transitioning for over 4 years now, and it’s been a long journey to realize that this surgery is an important step for me. Gender dysphoria is no joke. It brings me down every day, and I know this surgery will help.

I'm putting up this GoFundMe because although I’ve already secured the cost of the surgery itself, I’m still short of other costs involved. FFS is a very intense process. More specifically, it’s an umbrella term for several different invasive surgeries that are undertaken at once. In my case, it will be a frontoplasty, a genioplasty, and a tracheal shave, and it’s been recommended to me that I should not fly before recovering from these surgeries for three weeks. For much of this recovery time, I will also need medical supervision and daily care. I’m not able to afford staying in a private hospital during this time, so I will be leaving the hospital as soon as I safely can, after which I have booked an airbnb for me to stay in with my brother, who will be caring for me until I am able to fly home.

The funding goal of this gofundme is the exact cost for me and my brother’s accommodation while I recover from my surgery.
