NEW LUNG HELPS BREATHE

Donation protected

Hi All. Jack here.  I GOT A NEW LUNG at Stanford Umiversity Hospital on Friday October 21st. As most of you know or at least some of you know that I have a deadly lung disease called Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis or how it's more randomly called IPF. The Doctors do not know what causes the disease. It is a scaring of the lungs that keeps scaring until they stop working.  I was diagnosed with IPF in October 2010. The prognosis then was that only 30% of those with the disease lived past three to five years without a lung transplant.  The disease progresses differently in each  person. As you see now, I am six years into my disease. I had to retire because of it. I was in two Clinical Drug Trials at Stanford Hospital over a period of three trying to find a drug to cure the disease.  In August 2014, the FDA approved a drug called. Esbriet. The drug only slows down the scaring, it can not cure the disease or reverse the scaring.  I was stable for awhile, but the disease has progressed faster now in these last four months.  Fortunately, on September 21st I was placed on the lung transplant. Very fast, Stanford found a donor that match my lung and now I got it. It's amazing what modern medicine can do these days. I only needed one lung, my left. But that is enough to keep me breathing and living a somewhat normal life. But like all of us, everyday we are alive we write another day in a Chapter in the Book of Our Life's.  The Doctor's and nurses have told me that I am the best patience that they have seen after a lung transplant.  If all continues to go well,  I will be discharged this weekend. However, I have to rent an apartment up here within an hour's drive from the hospital for three months. The Social Worker that has my case has already found one very close to the hospital. My great friend Alain and my Bro will be living with me as my primary caregiver.  However, he does need help for others so can have some time off to rest be  with his family.  So if you have some time that you may have free to help him call him at the [phone redacted].  But also, I can use some assistance with any amount of "$$$$$" that may be laying around under your mattress.  It's expense to rent an apartment up here. Also, my girls, Brandy (rat terrier)  and Cassie (Cassie) have to be boarded in a kennel in Salinas for three months. That's
