Greetings!
We are Afrah Safrullah, Ranidi Lokugamhewa, and Sidrah Yooseph, dedicated law students from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka. We are honored to share that we have been selected to represent our university at the 47th Jean Pictet Competition 2025, which will take place in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, from 22nd February to 1st March 2025.
The Jean Pictet Competition is a prestigious platform for engaging with International Humanitarian Law (IHL) through practical and innovative means. Securing our spot in this globally renowned competition has been a challenging yet rewarding journey that reflects our passion and commitment to the field of law.
The registration fee for the competition is $1,370 (£1,080 / 1,250 euros). Fortunately, we were awarded a scholarship that reduced this amount to $820 (£650 / 750 euros). A portion of this fee has been covered by our university, but we still need to raise the balance ourselves.
In addition, the total travel cost for airfare and other logistics for all three of us is $2,000 (£1,575 / 1,850 euros). However, we are seeking to generate only $1,250 (£985 / 1,150 euros) through this platform to make our participation possible. The remaining amount will be covered through our personal savings and family contributions.
We are reaching out to you for support to help us overcome this hurdle. Your contributions—whether financial, by sharing our campaign, or through your encouragement—will enable us to proudly represent our university and Sri Lanka on this global stage.
Since GoFundMe cannot be accessed from Sri Lanka, a close family friend in the UK has kindly initiated this campaign on our behalf.
Every donation, no matter how small, is a valuable step toward achieving our goal. By supporting our journey, you are helping us uphold and promote the principles of IHL at an international level.
Thank you for your generosity and belief in our mission!
