This is our baby Blue Heeler Koda. He is five months old and he recently just got into a tragic accident. Only 60 hours ago did this little guy get hit by a car going 40 mph; flying into our mailbox in our front yard. My fiancé and I live on a busy road. While I was out for a run, My fiancé Shane went out to get the mail. When he opened the door to get back inside, Koda bolted out the door to the middle of the street in order to find me since he knew that I was gone. This all happened in a matter of five seconds in time with not even enough time for Shane to grab him before it was too late.

Luckily he survived. After spending 3 long days in the animal hospital, with all the x rays, monitoring, and surgery that was done, he luckily only came out with a fractured leg.

Despite getting through this traumatic experience, unfortunately we were too late to get pet insurance. We had to pay the bill up front, which has put a financial toll on our family and has forced us to spend money that we don’t have. It is horrible how much an animal hospital charges you when you don’t have pet insurance. They expect you to have the money right then and there with no acceptance of payment plans. You are given the ultimatum of draining yourmoney or leaving your animal to suffer if you can’t afford it.

He is only 5 months old and we got him back inMay. He has so much to live for and it was not worth letting him suffer or to not put him through surgery. We only want what is best for him and show him the love and care he deserves.

I am hoping this fund raiser will raise awareness of our health care system and to help support this little guy for us to continue to be stable for him and to help us pay off our outstanding medical bill so we can continue to give him the best care possible. Anything helps and we would be so thankful if you contributed to our cause and help our baby of our family . He is like our own child and means the world to us!
