For those of you who don't know, Julie has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Fortunately she caught it early, but it is a somewhat invasive form of cancer. During her first meeting with her breast oncologist she found out that she will have to undergo 16 weeks of chemo and possibly surgical removal of both breasts. They want to start chemo this Friday, which has given all of us very little time to come to terms with what is happening. This has come as a complete shock to our entire family as she is only 31 and otherwise completely healthy. The oncologist has also told her that she can not work during this process as she will be at an increased risk of infection and will likely feel various side effects from treatment. This obviously poses a huge financial hardship for Julie, Chris and the kids. No one ever expects something like this to happen, at least not in their 30's. It kills me to think of them struggling to make ends meet while trying to stay focused on what matters, which is Julie kicking cancers @$$.
