Dr. Vincent Buonaccorsi is truly one of a kind. A beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, friend, colleague, professor, adventurer, and giant pumpkin growing expert. You will never meet someone quite like Vince, who lives life with such joy, curiosity, enthusiasm, vigor and total commitment.

A few days ago, Vince was diagnosed with malignant esophageal cancer that has spread to his lungs and liver. After many visits with the primary care doctor, a persistent and painful cough that made eating difficult had brought him in for tests that day. The diagnosis came as a shock.

Doctors are working on alleviating Vince's pain and discomfort while gathering information to attain a precise diagnosis. He will be undergoing emergency thoracic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to stabilize his condition so he can begin treatment. The road to health will be long for Vince, his wife Kristin, and their children, Andrew, James, and Grace.
