Emergency fund: refugee family coming to Canada

The short story:
Our friend's family (his Aunt and cousins) were forced to escape a refugee camp in Tigray, Ethiopia when war broke out recently. The family urgently needs money for temporary rent, food, and living expenses in a nearby city, while they wait for our refugee sponsorship package to be approved by the Canadian and Ethiopian governments.
All the money raised here is going directly to this family as soon as possible to help them through this emergency.

The longer story:
We are sponsoring a family of four to come to Canada. It's great! They are relatives of an old friend of ours, his mother's sister and her children. Everything was going as well as we could hope. They had already fled Eritrea to a refugee camp in Tigray, Ethiopia. The paperwork was in order and we hoped they would be here in time for the new year.
Then, this winter, war swept through Tigray, and they were forced to flee, like so many other families, from the refugee camps. "The head of the UN refugee agency says he is 'deeply alarmed' by reports of Eritrean refugees in the Ethiopian region of Tigray being killed, abducted and forcibly returned to Eritrea," the BBC reported.
We are withholding the names of the family members in order to protect them, but we can say that they did all somehow manage to escape Tigray, which is largely still sealed off from the outside world. They're now living in a nearby city.
Here's where you come in. This family of four urgently needs money for rent, food and living expenses, which is about $200 Canadian dollars per month. We were told it could take 7-12 more months for them to get here, so we're looking to raise a minimum of $2,400 and hopefully more. Every bit helps.
