Wow, this has been the craziest two days ever! Let me briefly explain a short history.
Our son Cody Jones was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at the age of one. This affects the use of his left aside, mostly his hand and arm functions, but it still affects his leg. At the age of four he taught himself how to play baseball one handed. He continued to play even in to his high school years. His senior year an article was written on him which landed in the hands of the Paralympics Track and Field director. She contacted him to be a thrower for Team USA. Once he picked up the Javelin, the rest is history.
This past July during Trials he was told he did not secure a spot on the Paralympic Team headed to Rio September 7, 2016.
Well, Wednesday, August 24 that same director called him and invited him to be on the team with a spot that just opened up. Wow! How crazy awesome is that?!
So now Mom, Dad and Grandma are scrambling to raise the funds to go. Because nothing is going to prevent us from seeing him compete. We originally had the money saved for Rio, but once we were told Cody was not going we put the money into our older home for much needed repairs. The final purchase was made less than 24 hours before he got that phone call to go to Rio.
In our house, we live by faith and are not stressing about where the money will come from. God opened this door, He will see us through it.
I've had many friends and family asking about giving to help us so I figured this was the easiest way. We were already blessed hugely with airfare. Now we are left with hotel and other expenses. Many are concerned for our safety while there so I spoke with the Director and she suggested the safest place is the Hilton. However it comes with a price. Any amount that you want to give is an amount that is deeply appreciated.
