Daniel is the father of 4 young children and an active man who loves working with his hands. He enjoys the outdoors and gardens, does woodworking, raises chickens, ducks, rabbits, and bees. He loves figuring out how things work so he does all of our vehicle and home maintenance.
On May 7th, Daniel suffered a horrible electrical injury. He was rushed via ambulance to the ER and moved to the burn unit. That night, he underwent the first of several surgeries. That first surgery, to release pressure from the swelling caused by the electrical injury and to assess the extent of the injuries, unfortunately resulted in the news that his fingers, hand, and at least a portion of his right forearm were not salvageable. On Tuesday, May 9th, his arm was amputated to a point below his elbow. In subsequent surgeries, additional muscle had to be removed and that was revised to an above the elbow amputation a week later. In addition, his left knee was burned to the patella and has required multiple debridements, skin grafts, and a vascular skin flap. He has months of physical therapy ahead of him.
Our family and friends have been so very supportive during this time, but obviously Daniel’s recovery time will be substantial and I’m not sure we even fully recognize the financial impact this will have on our family. We appreciate your good wishes and support. Any donations will help to ease the financial burden and allow Daniel to focus on getting better. Thank you!
