Freddie’s leg amputation
Freddie was spotted limping and a concerned community member googled “how to help injured stray cats”, and guess what popped up? Minka! (Will post link to her story for those that don’t know of her). The concerned community member reached out to us for help, and thank goodness she did! Sunday she was trapped by two rescue volunteers working with the feeder / finder, and off she went to Jaax vet hospital Monday morning, where she was found to have two badly broken bones in her leg, complicated by a nasty infection in the wound on her leg, and her bones had also begun to heal improperly. The decision was made today that the best outcome for Freddie healing would be to amputate her leg Friday morning. The great news is kitties typically recover beautifully from amputations once they’ve healed, AND Freddie isn’t feral! She’s scared, but will do just fine recovering on crate rest with her wonderful finder, who is opening up her home to foster her during her recovery.
We need help to fund Freddie’s surgery, which Dr Jaax estimated to be $700 when I spoke with her this morning, plus some additional Expenses for her recovery and supplies. We appreciate anything you’re able to donate as every bit helps! Donations can also be called in directly to Jaax vet hospital.
