This picture was taken Christmas 2015, Jerry, Mary & family were celebrating their daughter's birthday. Just 2 weeks later Jerry had a terrible fall at his home hitting his head on the asphalt resulting in a TBI, a massive traumatic brain injury. Since his injury, he has spent 40+ days in several different hospitals and is currently in a skilled nursing care center. He will need to relearn to walk and perform basic tasks most of us take for granted. Although he has progressed, his journey is going to be very long and require patience and determination.
Jerry is currently covered under Medicare with no supplemental coverage. Mid June his hospital coverage will be maxed out and his already $4000 a month care facility cost will increase to $9000 a month. In addition, Mary and Jerry's home is 30 miles from his care facility so Mary's ability to be closely involved in Jerry's care has become quite costly.
Jerry is well known for being a generous, loving and caring person.
Jerry and Mary have been incredible members of our community for years and never turn down the opportunity to help a neighbor in need. Over the course of the last few months, I have heard countless stories of Jerry going above and beyond and in many cases accepting no payment.
We are a community who takes care of it's own and now it's our turn to return the favor. Please help to relieve the financial burden so they only have to focus on getting Jerry well. Any size donation can help !
So far, friends and family have generously given funds that have gone towards housing during the long distant hospital stays, food, gas, utilities etc. we still need more help!
