Chip in to Help Elsa
We got a message through our FB page that a friend's friend had a Pug that needed help desperately. Her Pug Elsa was hit by a car and put aside on the street for hours before they were notified. The owner could not afford any care for Elsa; as soon as we got the message we sent back word that we would take her in and get her whatever care she neeed and to forward the owner's contact information to us ASAP. We were able to reach the owner this morning, and immediately drove to L.A. to pick up Elsa. This poor dog was in excrutiating pain, shaking and crying, laying in her own urine. We rushed her to emergency; she has a broken pelvis and femur and her eye was also damaged beyond repair and will have to be removed. She was shaking so badly the doctors couldn't tell if she was having small seizures or was trembling in pain; she will also have to have a CT Scan to be sure no disks are ruptured as she appears to be ataxic. Another possibility of her neurological issues at the moment could be a concussion or even a liver shunt. All this remains to be seen. At the moment, she's resting comfortably and is being administered pain meds; she will most likely have surgery to repair her pelvis and leg Wednesday, as well as the CT Scan. We are taking it a step at a time and will mostly likely have to do the enucleation with a spay at a later date. Elsa has a long road ahead but she's in our hands now and we will do whatever it takes to have her on her feet again, and ultimately, in a perfect home. We will apply all funds received towards her medical bills, which no doubt will tip the scales between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on what further tests and procedures she needs. But this sweet girl deserves a chance; please give what you can. Thank you so much.
