The Chico State Club Baseball Team is going to Playoffs! This is incredibly exciting for our team in its first ever season with the National Club Baseball Association. The downside however is funding: as a completely student-funded organization financing is extremely limited and at the moment we are far from able to afford our playoff expenses. These involve travel costs to Lancaster, CA, and most likely Pittsburg Kansas! Travel costs incldue hotel rooms for both destinations and plane flights to Kansas, adding up to over $10,000! Being a student organization rather than an NCAA sports team has left us without funding from the university to cover these costs, and without your suport we simply will not be able to realize our dreams of playing playoff and World Series baseball. Please, any donation will help greatly and will mean the world to us as we have the opporunity to play in the biggest games of our baseball lives.
A little more about the team:
Chico State Club Baseball was founded in the Fall of 2014 by a handful of students united by a shared love for baseball and one common goal-to find away for more students to play baseball at the college level. We began with nothing, gear was what each player could scrape together and offer up for team use, and no ball fields were willing to let us practice. As a result we practiced on an open plot of grass on campus, no bases, no mound, just open space. As we patiently applied to join the National Club Baseball Association (clubbaseball.ord/div2) and gathered all the funds we could to support the team and our league fees we recruited other players and through an agreement with Chico Eastside Little League, were able to work in return for a field we could share and call our home park.
In the fall of 2015 our season began with a lot of uncertainity but with high hopes, hard working players, and serious drive. The result has been a nearly prefect season at 14 wins, 1 loss, and shattered expectations. Obstacle after obstacle has been beaten as this team looks to take on new playoff oponents and compete at this next level.
