Naomi has been fighting some kind of cold, infection or head aches the last month. This last week she was in the ER twice and the blood work showed that her white count was down. She saw her oncologist on Monday and they performed a bone marrow biopsy Wednesday. On Thursday the oncologist called with the preliminary results and on Friday when in office she confirmed that Naomi has Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This is Naomi's second battle with cancer. In 2009 when her daughter was 18 months old she was diagnosed and beat Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Being treated with chemotherapy in the past makes her more susceptible to a reoccurrence. AML Is the byproduct of saving her life 7 years ago. AML is a fast moving blood cancer that requires a 4 week in patient inclusion chemo treatment in Roseville, Ca. Dan will be staying in a hotel during her treatment with friends and family taking care of Shae while they are gone. The plan is to do the inclusion therapy and see the blood counts return to normal. She would have a couple of weeks off then start the consolidation therapy for a week. Going through 2 rounds of that. Treatments will likely last through the holidays. Once she is in remission, Naomi will need a bone marrow transplant to give her the best chances of survival. We are asking for help to cover medical and travel expenses while the family battles to help Naomi beat this a second time.
