I am Mrs. Yasmine Abdel Jawad, a resident of Gaza. I was living a peaceful life with my family. My story begins on October 13, 2023. I was with my entire family, living in an apartment in the Engineers Tower in the Nuseirat camp. The entire tower was bombed over the heads of its residents with four explosive missiles, resulting in the deaths of 500 martyrs. My family remained the only survivors of the tower. We remained under the rubble of the house for half an hour, asking people for help, while fire surrounded us from all sides. My children were screaming, "We don't want to die." I tried to put out the fire by throwing stones above my head, but a small light shone through a small opening. I emerged from this opening, taking my son Bilal by the hand, as our legs were burned. I continued screaming in the street, "Save my children from under the rubble!" The fire surrounded them from every direction. I was shocked when I emerged. My husband, Anwar Abdel Jawad, who was our source of strength, was martyred, and my daughter, Suhad, was martyred after her entire body was burned. My son Ahed suffered third-degree burns on 50 percent of his body and underwent 30 operations. His face and hand were disfigured and he needs several operations to be able to move them. My daughter Lana had her legs burned, and my daughter Yara and her two daughters, Lara and Tia, had their bodies burned. Yara's finger was amputated, and Tia's toe was amputated. I need your help to get out of Gaza.
