Hello, I have made this go fund me account to raise money for my mom, Julie who has been fighting against stage 4 lung for the past two years. About two years ago at the age of 44, Julie had a cough that wouldn't go away and her back was hurting. When they did a chest X-ray they found that her left lung was collapsed and full of cancer, the cancer had also spread to her pelvis, hips and several other areas. She has never smoked a day in her life, we were all shocked when we heard it was lung cancer. Julie had met the love of her life when she got the word it was terminal cancer. They gave her two years. Julie and Mike decided to get married and she continued to work and would sleep during her lunch hour - living with the pain and sickness of chemo and hurting bones. One by one the treatments stopped working and we thought the fight was at the end. A wonderful surprise happened in July- they tested Julie for a DNA type pill that only 10% of the population would be a candidate for and she was one of the lucky few. Everyone thought our prayers were answered because this pill gives longevity to those who are able to take it.. we're talking maybe a few years or more. Within a month things started to change and she wasn't feeling well, while helping the cancer, the new treatment ended up destroying her liver. After four weeks in the hospital at the Mayo Clinic, other than a liver transplant which isn't possible for people who have cancer, there isn't anything they can do but hope her liver recovers which could be a year or more. Julie is now home and has been resting for the past month and is no longer able to work. With the many many medical bill flowing in, Mike has been working extra late hours to help pay for the bills. So many people have been such a blessing to our family with helping out with meals and buying the wristbands that I have made. Asking for people to give is not the easiest thing todo but it has come to the point we're we need help from others. If you can give any amount to her it would be greatly appreciated.
