Helping To Rebuild
My name is Mary Anne Funk and my husband's name is Mark Funk.
I have set this page up to help us get back on our feet and to help us rebuild some much needed tools that were stolen. Some time between the night of April 21st and the morning of April 22nd, my husband had all of his tools stolen that he uses for his business. The tools were in his two tool boxes in the back of the truck. Each tool box was locked shut and the boxes were locked together and then locked to the truck. I am at a loss for words in the way I feel for what happened. Everything he owned for his business and the work he does in the community was in those tool boxes.
He filed a report with the police over the phone as soon as he discovered the theft. They gave him a case file number and told him there isn't much they can do.
We have no way of recovering what was taken and no means to purchase what he needs.
A list of tools that were taken will be listed seprately.
Mark is a tile setter in Portland, Oregon. He provides home tiling services at affordable prices and he designs handcrafted tile tables using repurposed materials.
Over the last three years, he has been working hard on building up his tools that he needed for tile setting work and community service work.
When Mark isn't working, he is providing his time in fixing things in the community home we are a part of and buidling structures for Anawim Christian Community, a non-profit organization serving our homeless community in Gresham, Oregon. Mark is someone who has always given back to the community.
We have worked so hard over the last few years to rebuild our lives after hitting hard economic times.
We've been in Portland now for two years. Mark has had steady work in tile setting and he finally had what he needed for acquiring tile jobs in order to work on getting his contractors license so he can be an independent tile contractor and for us to begin saving toward our future, and then in a single moment he lost it all when someone stole both tool boxes. There are no words to truly express the devestation we felt. I have never seen my husband shake like he was when he came into our place to tell me what happened. I wish more than anything that I could say wake up honey, you're having a nightmare.
Without these tools, Mark is not able to do his work. Any help in rebuilding what was stolen is greatly appreciated.
If you are in the Portland area and would prefer to have tile work done rather than donating, Mark would be happy to do that.
The $5,000 we are trying to raise will help pay to replace the tools that were stolen. Any funding raised up and above the $5,000 will help with additional business expenses including being able to get insurance.
