My Dad, Joe Cook is not able to walk. He begs to get out of bed but the only way we have to lift him hurts his knees so badly that he screams. While he was in the hospital they used a Barton chair. He enjoyed sitting up and the chair is comfortable. Hospice will not provide this chair even though it would be beneficial for my father to get out of bed.
The transfer from bed to chair is easy; just pull him with the bed sheets over to the flattened chair. After he is securely on the chair, it is repositioned from flat to upright. To move him back to the bed, flatten the chair and slide him back to bed. There is no knee trauma, no lifting, and less pain.
