LEEWAY’S MISSION

The purpose of this fundraiser is to add a garden at the entrance to the Leeway  facility for HIV impacted persons. Leeway, located in New Haven Connecticut is an integral part of the continuum of AIDS care, committed to being a center of excellence in providing inpatient rehabilitative and palliative care so that those with AIDS can live as independently as possible. This expert care is respectfully provided with compassion and without regard to race, national origin, age, religion, handicap, gender or sexual orientation with a focus on the integration of body, mind, and spirit. We are committed to promoting quality of life and dignity to all those with HIV/AIDS. Many of our clients have multiple health problems in addition to HIV such as diabetes, cancer, mental health issues and other co-morbidities.

CATHERINE KENNEDY MEMORIAL GARDEN

One of our goals is to provide as pleasant and home like environment as possible.  While we have been successful in obtaining funding for clinical care and housing,  such funds cannot be  used , understandably,  for amenities such as this garden. Avoiding a harsh institutional environment is an important part of Leeway’s holistic approach to patient care. We believe that views of bare concrete parking areas do little to promote patient morale.  Capturing the seasons with a garden at Leeway’s entrance will enhance our residents’ experience.  All donations will go towards the completion of the Catherine Kennedy Memorial Garden named to honor the woman who founded Leeway. The late Ms.  Kennedy’s strength and integrity continues to inform Leeway’s mission. Your contribution will ensure that you will be a part of this lasting legacy here at Leeway.
