Karate for a Cause!
To everyone that I hope will support these two amazing and worthy causes—
Hi. I'm Elie Zieserl and I just became a Bat Mitzvah in Israel with my family and friends from my synagogue, Am Shalom, in Glencoe. As part of my Bat Mitzvah, I am continuing to work on two Mitzvah projects for two special organizations that are very close to my heart.
The first is the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled where I have visited twice in Israel. It is an amazing place. I am raising money to buy a specially-outfitted wheelchair for a young athlete there.
The other organization is much closer to home, in fact, a lot of people say that it is my second home: North Shore Dojo in Glenview, where I study, teach, and earned my black belt in Karate. The Can-Do Karate Foundation is a special part of my dojo. I have the opportunity to teach and support many amazing special needs athletes each week as part of the Can-Do Karate Foundation. I have seen firsthand what a difference Karate makes to so many kids. I can promise you that any donation you can make will go right to the kids and help them to achieve even more than they already "can do!"
As part of my fundraising effort, on May 1 at 2:00, I am leading a very special youth event for students in grades 2 through 5 at Am Shalom called Karate for a Cause! (Well, two.) I realize that not everyone can attend, but if you can, it would be totally great.
A lot of the students and the Sensei teachers from my dojo will be there to demonstrate that Karate is a sport that kids with ALL abilities can do. We will even have a special demonstration where one of the amazing Can-Do kids will teach Karate to a mystery guest who has never done Karate before (but knows Am Shalom really well!).
While the class itself is for kids in grades 2 through 5, whole families are welcome. I really hope you can come. If not, it would mean so much if you would consider making a donation. You can sponsor a whole board for $100, half a board for $50, or quarter of a wooden karate board for $25. Kids will all sorts of different abilities will be breaking boards with their bare hands in the "Board Breaking Bonanza!" to raise money during the event. We hope to hit our goal by May 15!
All proceeds from this event benefit both the Can Do Karate Foundation and the Israel Sports Center for the Disabled. Thank you so much for considering this. I really hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Elie Zieserl
