Help Eun A Fight Leukemia

Dear Friends, 

I have not spoken to many of you -- perhaps in years -- and am saddened that this is how I will reach out to you.

Last Thursday, I came to the NYU hospital's emergency unit for severe knee pain. They ran a routine blood test and discovered very quickly that something was wrong. I did the bone marrow biopsy the following day, and was soon diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Thankfully, my MRI and CAT scans came out clean, indicating that the cancer cells have not metastasized to my organs or brains. 

It has been three days. I am still processing the information and awaiting further test results on the genetic details of my condition. But given the urgency of the situation, the doctors have suggested deciding on a treatment protocol and starting chemotherapy within the next two days.

Those of you who know my background are probably aware that my family will not be able to afford this treatment. And while I do have insurance from work, its coverage falls short. I am also not sure whether I can remain insured, as my employment contract -- on which my insurance depends -- provides for limited short-term leave.

I apologize that I have not managed to get in touch with each of you in person. As I hear more about the prognosis and the treatment schedule, I will keep you posted. In the meantime, please help me raise the money to get the treatment I need, fund my mom's travel to New York, and meet other financial commitments.

Please also keep me in your prayers and thoughts.

I intend to fight this leukemia and return to my geek-some life.
