Our son; Alexander Dino was born with Diastrophic Dysplasia (dwarfism) and has been a member of the Little People of America his whole life. Alex is soon to turn 11 years old, and has been presented with an incredible opportunity to attend The International Dwarfism Summit to be held in Berlin, Germany this October 2016 as a U.S. delegate with the LPA. This conference has a small capacity of 80 people, mainly comprised of leaders worldwide, from an array of countries. We seek support to fund this trip so he can embark on this momentous opportunity.

Alex took the steps last year to serve in student council as a 4th grade class senator. He has demonstrated the capacity to empathize with others like him or otherwise challenged with a disability and participated in speaking engagements with his class and others on campus on what it’s like to be different. He has revealed an aptitude for leadership and to serve. Going to Germany will afford Alex the opportunity to learn more about the needs of others internationally and gain the knowledge on what is needed to advance circumstances directly with world leaders. We feel that Alex will be able to bring this knowledge home to share with his community and affect change.

Our family feels strongly that this once in a lifetime opportunity could set the course for Alexander’s future in a powerful way; keeping him focused on his ability rather than disability. He has been gifted in so many other ways in life and has much to give.
