Friends and Family of Carter Hampton have created this page to help raise funds for his upcoming surgery. Carter Hampton is a 7 year old boy with Caudal Regression Syndrome. His spine never developed past Lumbar 3. This underdevelopment has caused many issues internally, especially with bladder, bowel and kidney. Carter has had a total of 31 surgeries, however, it is this next surgery that is of the utmost importantance and could be life safe saving for our little man.

Carter is an adored son, grandson, brother, nephew and friend to many. He has been described by his family, friends, and doctors as a hero. He is the definition of joy in the midst of circumstance. He is brave, tough and passionate about life. In November 2014 Carter had an infection that they felt was epididymis. By Jan 2015 the infection had come back (worse each time) 4 different times. Each time would land him in the ER for pain control and antibiotics. In May the infection turned into a skin issue. We will spare you the icky details. Carter became very ill with an infection in July 2015. At that time they did an MRI and found a connection from his bladder and scrotum that should not be there. The urologist here in Denver did extensive research and looked into what would be the best option. In Nov 2015 Carter's urologist and general surgeon attempted a higher up vesectomy, hoping to cut off communication. After 2 1/2 hours in surgery they were unable to get to the needed area due to so much scar tissue and blood vessels.
Over the last 2 months the infection has become worse and we have not had a period off antibiotic treatment since the last week of July. Carter is currently completing a 4 week round of IV antibiotics.
It was determined that he needed to be seen by urology and colorectal specialists in Cincinnati, OH.
Carter and his family will be making the first trip out to Cincinnati on November 14-18th. On this first initial trip they will run different tests. A few that need to be done while under anesthesia. After the testing Carter's parents, Dave and Jill, will meet with doctors and come up with a solid plan of action, most likely surgery. This would mean 1 or more trips out after this first initial. We have to plan for multiple trips from Colorado to Cincinnati to get Carter the help he needs. These trips can be very costly and any help is greatly appreciated. We are so thankful for any blessing you could give to this most deserving family.
