Evelyn's Wheelchair Accessible Crib

Hi, My name is Evelyn, I am a 30-year-old expectant mother of my first child. I also have Muscular Dystrophy and I am confined to a wheelchair, however, I am not defined by this disability. I have the same drive in me to be a mother as most women do, and will not allow this disability to stand in the way of being a great mother.  I have the same desires as any woman becoming a parent but I am realistic and also know and understand that there are some added challenges for me in raising a child by myself. I am a hard working single female that does not seek out help or handouts. I am a self-reliant person, as life has taught me to be. However being an expectant mother, I was informed recently that my insurance would cover a wheelchair accessible baby crib, I also went through the tedious and nessecary steps of approval just to  to find out half way through my pregnancy, that they would not cover it, I was declined. Leaving me only a few months til my January due date until my babies arrival to scramble and find one myself. Never expecting that the producers of a wheelchair accessible crib would price gouge those that can least afford it. The first company I found "Pedialift" whom had declined me had a starting price of $16,000. No that is not a typo. SIXTEEN THOUSAND, as disgusting as that sounds, that is what they charge. I did, however, find another company that has one for $1,700 plus $250 shipping and will need a mattress. Which was still expensive when compared to what a normal crib cost. So as humbling as this is, I need help! Any amount will help me to be able to safely put my child to bed and remove them safely. I cannot Thank You enough for any help, even if it's just sharing this need with others.
