On May 8, 2021 our brother Brandon Hightower was severely injured in a UTV accident. Brandon was camping at Koocanusa Reservoir when the accident happened late in the afternoon. Brandon was medevaced to KRMC (Kalispell) where he was later life-flighted to Seattle Harbor View due to the extent and severity of injuries. Brandon was in ICU for almost 4 days where he underwent multiple surgeries to realign and stabilize his pelvis and lower spine. Although Brandon’s Mom, Maureen, and Girlfriend Hillary, were able to make it Seattle, due to COVID restrictions they have only been able to see Brandon for very short periods of time and have been waiting in a nearby hotel.
Brandon is an Engine Captain with the United States Forest Service where he has served as a wildland firefighter for 11 years. Brandon is one of the nicest guys you could ever know and is very well respected not only in the fire community and the Flathead Valley, but all of Western Montana. Everywhere Brandon goes someone knows him from somewhere and he always makes you feel welcome.
Brandon is always willing to lend a helping hand and really doesn’t know how to say “No” to helping not only friends and family, but anyone who happens to be lucky to cross paths with Brandon. Need a fuel pump on an old diesel truck changed out… “Very Well” Brandon would say…
Brandon is still recovering from surgery then once out of the hospital, Brandon is going to have months of rehabilitation just to get back on his feet. It is uncertain when he may return to full duty and go back to leading wildland firefighters protecting America's West. It was only natural for Brandon to become a wildland firefighter because he gets to serve in the community that he grew up in and help people across the country.
Well, now Brandon needs our help!!! Please support our Brother in this time of need. Brandon would never ask for help himself, but he is facing a future of uncertainty with the potential for financial burden related to medical bills, travel to and from out of region hospitals, hotels and the long-term unknowns.
Thank you!!!
