As a close knit family, we love life, and we enjoy everything that God has graciously given us, but our faith is once again being tested.

Kayla, our oldest of 4 children,  started college at 18 years old, and kept reminding herself that she wanted to be a great example for her 3 younger siblings.  She graduated with her AA Degree in April, 2016, and was accepted at Loma Linda University in the accelerated Physical Therapy Assistant Program. She left for school in June, 2016.

Three months and 8 classes later, Kayla was looking forward to giving her brain a rest and going home to be with her family for 2 weeks before starting another 8 classes. Kayla's time at home consisted of home-cooked meals, catching up with family, and a family day at Santa Cruz Beach.

Kayla came home the night after the beach complaining of severe chest pains and trouble breathing.  Instead of packing to head back to school, we found ourselves in the ER.  After 9 days in the hospital enduring CT scans, x-rays, MRI's, PET scan, PF Test, and a surgical biopsy, the doctors confirmed there were 2 masses in her chest cavity, which were 95% cancerous. A young, healthy, 22-year-old girl, who dreamt of serving in the medical profession became a patient herself, and a few days later she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

Kayla faces up to 4 months of chemotherapy and 2 weeks of radiation therapy. The cancer center that she will be treated at is a 2.5 hour drive one way. The radiation treatment will require her to live close to the hospital, an expense not covered by her insurance.

Families that have to take care of their loved one, shouldn't have  to think about the financial strain that comes along with the unfortunate diagnosis that is completely unexpected. Their focus is only on caring for and loving their sick child.

We are a family of 6, and when one of us goes through a difficult situation, we all suffer together.  All of our lives have changed drastically to care for Kayla, and we know in time this will be behind us, but until then, Kayla's loving family is asking for prayers for their beautiful daughter to be healed, and any finacial support you can help with for the difficult months ahead.
