Teter’s Farm Disaster Initiative

Have you ever asked for help, but didn’t know where to turn? Have you ever been down on your luck and didn’t know if anyone would lend a hand? Please take a moment of your day to read, share, and like this post. Just please do not delete it without sharing it first. We all have hundreds of friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Tonja and I work together in Labor and Delivery at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. The friendship that we have built over the years made me want to establish this account to assist them. If half of us donated the cost of a fast food meal or a cup of coffee we can make a difference to the Teters. They need the helping hand today!

Tonja, David, Joshua, and Caleb Teter are a fun and loving family. What makes them special is the love that they have for each other, their family, friends, and God. Not necessarily in that order. Eastover, N.C. where the Teter Farm is located consists of many ‘critters’ such as Hazel, the micro potbellied pig; Midnight, the tailless cat; Sir Loin and T Bone the cows and the “Girls” which are the chickens that are named individually and spoiled rotten as far as chickens go!

Due to the recent devastation of Hurricane Matthew they now face mounds of repairs from flood damage because like so many others they didn’t have flood insurance. Home evaluations have yet to be completed due to the 5.5 feet of water outside and the 12-18 inches of water inside the home but the damages are extensive. All flooring, carpet and hardwood, will need to be ripped up and replaced, the central heating and air system will need to be replaced, plumbing and electrical systems will need to be evaluated for repairs, partial wall repairs in all seven rooms including paint, some of the appliances will require replacing, driveway repairs, and the list potentially goes on.

It is greatly appreciated if you find it in your heart to donate. As the water recedes and the assessments are being done, there might be other opportunities to lend a hand. You may know someone who has a truck, a dumpster, or a tractor. You may know an electrician, a carpenter, or a mechanic. You may be available to bring a hot meal to workers when repairs are being made. You can make a difference; a difference to the Teter’s today

Jackie.
