I trust this message reaches you well. I’m Asil S Palestinian Canadian living in Hamilton, Ontario, I’m writing on behalf of my brother Mohammed Alswaitti , a 16-year-old residing in Gaza, Palestine. Our family is grappling with severe challenges due to the persistent conflict and hardships in our area.
The conditions in Gaza have worsened significantly. We face the repercussions of war, economic challenges, and a scarcity of essential resources. Our daily existence is marked by fear and unpredictability, making our future seem uncertain. Hence, we seek assistance to relocate from Gaza in pursuit of a more promising life.
Throughout this conflict, we've had to flee our home multiple times, grappling with shortages of food, water, and electricity. The prevailing conditions have exposed us to health risks, with many falling ill due to diseases and pollution. Our family comprises ten members, including my father, Ibrahim Alswaity, and my siblings Jamal (26), Ahmed and his wife Alaa with two kids ( Ibrahim and Eila), My sister Asma and her husband Mohammed with two kids ( Tala and Dyala).
The ongoing war has disrupted my education. As I approach my final year, my aspirations of pursuing higher education abroad have been shattered due to the destruction of my school and the loss of educators. The future of my academic journey remains uncertain.
I want to bring to your attention the recent announcement by Immigration Canadian Minister Marc Miller regarding a temporary visa program for individuals in the Gaza Strip with Canadian relatives. This program was started on January 9, 2024. However, it's crucial to note that the Canadian Government will not provide financial assistance for evacuees and their families, necessitating our responsibility to sponsor and cover all travel and settlement expenses.
Your generous contribution could pave the way for our safety, and stability, and a chance to reconstruct our lives in Canada. We deeply appreciate your consideration and support in these trying times, and hoping for a favorable resolution that ensures our well-being.
I aim to raise 50,000 CAD to cover travel costs to Egypt , accommodation in Egypt, and essential resettlement expenses . Here is the breakdown of the funds:
Travel expenses to Egypt:
A total of $45,000 (USD) will be required to cover the expenses of obtaining permits to leave Gaza and crossing fees at the Egyptian border with Gaza. This amount breaks down to $5,000 (USD) per adult over 16 years of age and $2,500 (USD) per child under 16 years of age.
Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference to my family's safety. The funds raised will be used transparently and efficiently to ensure that every dollar is spent on ensuring their safety.
My family and I are deeply grateful for your support, and I am deeply grateful for any assistance you may be able to provide during this difficult time. Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and colleagues so that we can reach our goal and provide safety for my family
Please accept my sincere thanks for your kindness and support, as well as your willingness to stand with us in solidarity, as together, we can make a difference and help my family find safety and security.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart,
Asil S
