Early in the morning on Monday August, 8, 2016, Marty Bell was admitted to the ER at St John's Hospital in Camarillo, CA. He could barely walk to the car, but did so anyway. The doctors quickly discovered that he had recently suffered a heart attack. In addition to this, they discovered he had a major infection that had made it's way into his heart and had deteriorated one of his semilunar valves. This valve, only working at 45% is scheduled to be replaced Tuesday, August 22, 2016. Lord willing, he will be able to leave the hospital by the end of August.
My name is Justin Bell and Marty Bell is my father. The reason I am putting this together and asking for your help is because he would probably never do so. Growing up, my dad always taught me that you need to fight through the challenges that come accross your path. He has always been much more comfortable offering help than asking for it. My dad is very young to be dealing with this (57), which also makes the doctors extremely optomistic that he is on his way to a full recovery.
For all of his adult life, my dad has been an independent pool contractor and we have both been in business together since 2004. Being an independent contractor has many perks as well as some unique challenges. One of these challenges is, "If you don't work, you don't eat". Because of my dad's condition he has been out of work since the beginning of August and will probably not be able to work in full capacity for the next few months. In addition to this, he is going to be facing some pretty large hospital bills. Let's just say he doesn't have optimum health insurance coverage. All funds raised will go towards my dad's lost income during this time as well as hospital bills from his stay.
So I am coming to you and asking for help. As a Christian, I believe the greatest way you can help is prayer. So many of you have been joining us in prayer and we so appreciate it. Please continue to do so! In addition to this, my dad (and mom) could use any financial assistance you feel moved to contribute. Please do not feel any pressure from me. We love you all and are so grateful for you. God Bless,
Justin Bell
