First let me say I never thought I would be using go fund me and for myself I never would however there is this amazing young lady I desperately want to help. She has made me see how blessed we truly are she once said to her step dad. You have sight but you have no vision I have a vision a vision of helping this dear young lady Catalina.
I have a dear friend who's daughter is simply amazing and such an inspiration to many more people than even she knows. Cats is in desperate need of s new Braille computer system that is very expensive. In addition do to having life threatening massive brain tumor that led to brain surgery Cata had to suspend her schooling. Due to this medical condition in which her recovery was nothing but a mirical she has been dropped from the program that had funded her school and equipment. Catalina has been fiercely independent but she has lost this independence and I want to do what ever I can to help her regain her independence and connection back to the world. This equipment will accomplish that and I would like to help get her back into school and provide for a few expenses. Thank you very much for joining me in restoring this amazing young ladys independence.
Please join me in getting this equipment and help jumpstart Catalinas return to the classroom.

This is a letter her step-dad shared with me a story of her life by her.
Can you please help me and forward this to some of your friends?

Hello,

Hope all is well. I've been really frustrated lately. After cancer have been struggling with many things. The dept of Rehabilitation VR closed my case when I was on chemo theraphy because I didn't go to school at the time. Before they closed my case my braille display stopped working. It's old. I've been trying to go back to school, but mmy health hasn't been well lately. Thanks God I'm feeling much better.

When I was 3 years old I lost my vision. My older sister and I went to kinder at a n elementary school in my country. When I tried the first grade, I was hard of hearing. My parents searched for a school for the blind. They found a school in Pereira. Staff at the school wseren't able to communicate with me. My parents then found a school for the deaf. The staff there also couldn't communicate with me because I couldn't see their signs. My mom and I came to NJ when I was 11. My mom was searching for cure for my vision and hearing. I tried to go to school. I didn't understand English. I missed my family and asked mom to send me to my country. She sent me in April of 1992. She stayed there working. 8 months later she returned home. Since I never went to school before, I spent my time listening to music and cleaning the house. In Sept 1994 mom moved to FL. 5 months later I moved to FL and 5 months later my mom remarried. My step dad is the best dad in the world! I'm so proud mom
married him. I attend ed school for the first time in my life at Miami SR HS at age of 16. At the time I didn't know how to read in my own language. I was very shy and felt very ignorant. The school had about 2,500 students. I was deaf at the time. It was harder for me to learn. First I learned Spanish, braille. When my teacher was teaching me Math, she told me it was time for me to learn English. My first English world was decimal. My first bf and I used to communcate through a small white board. I didn't like carring it all the time. He went to the library and bought a sign language book.He is also blind and couldn't see the signs. The school hired a deaf teacher to tach me some signs. Some one told me FL School for the deaf and the blind FSDB wwas the best school for me.In Agust 1997 I moved to FSDB. I loved the school so much. I was student of the month that year. I felt like my second house. I loved to join the band. I played the saphone. I'm not skilled. I love helping
others I worked at our school library. My life changed so much. I was the happiest girl at my school loved joining many clubs and studied hard. In 1999 I was Broward Couny student of the year. I graduate with 3.8. After FSDB, I went to the Helen Keller National Center in NY. I tried Gallaudet university. Did n't like it there I returned to FL. I searched for new colleges. My bf lived in Oakland, CA. I decided to move with him and attend Chabot College in Hayward. I lived in Dublin for 6 months then moved to Pleasanton. In 2010 I started having some odd health issues. I didn't care about it and just enjoyed life. I got my sweetheart, Jiffy in Sept of that year. When I got sick, I took him out for walks. In 2013 I was studing for a math test. I went to the Math lab and I was working with a tutor. I started having seizures each few seconds. My interpreter took m to the office for stdents with disabilites. . They took me in a golf car. I waited for my bf to come to go home. I t
was late and I couldn't go to the hospital. The following day, I left Jiffy with my bf. I was very ill. I couldn't cook anything. My bf was busy. He told me he was going to buy something. I went to ER. When the dr g saw my CT scan told me I had a massive tumor. He told me they might have to surgery right away. The dr wanted to see the MRI. The follwing day, dr told me I had to see dr CAstro. I got med for seizurews and decaderon for tumor. My life changed so much. On May 20 I had cranial surgery at UCSF. It was a beautful and painful expereicne. It was a religous experience. I'lm very grateful God gave me the tumor because I learned to love life more. I was on chelchemo theraphy and the dept of Reahabilitation closed my case because I was ill and coudln't go to school. I moved to live in El cErito to be near to my hospital. It was tough because I was on chemo. I didn't get much help that year. I tried to go back to colllege last year, but I don't have VR. they closed my case
in Agust of 2013. I couldn't aford to get a new braile disply and it is hard to do my schol work with out a braille display. I had to drop out of college again. I tried to reopen my VR case. They want me to work. I have 1 class left to get my AA degree in Lebeal arts. I told them I will finish my AA and then ook for a job. They told me they can't help me!
I was very ill this year. I often had to go to the hospital. I was in a great depresion and didn't want to live anymore. Finally I came out of depression. ISigned up for classes at the last min. I'm takine craft and ceramic, and ASL culture and history. My frustation is my equipment. I know I can't take the class I need to get my degree this semester, but I will definitely take in next year. I'm very grateful I can't see or hear well. I hate violence and am proud I don't have to worry about watching violence. If any of you can please give me some donations for my equipment that will be great. Thanks a millio n! God bless you all.

Peace-fullness of life!
Catalina
