Electric Shock Drowning Prevention Association

Every year people swimming around docks and boats using AC electricity are killed or injured.  

New standards have emerged thanks to collective industry efforts.  More work is needed to educate the public and dock/marina owners on understanding and implementing the new requirements. 

Every one of these accidents is avoidable with these recommendations from the ESDPA:

1.  DO NOT SWIM around docks and boats using AC electricity from the shore.  Stay at least 150 feet away.

2.  Ensure your docks are up to Code standards by inspection with qualified, licensed technitions.

3.  If you witness an electric shock event in the water, DON'T jump in!, turn off power, call 911, throw a life ring, push the person AWAY from the dock (electric fields get stronger when closer to the source).

4.  The ESDPA does not support "green light" devices to promote swimming around electricity.  Electricity, water, and swimming around docks don't mix!

100% of all donations will help fund the all-volunteer effort to educate the public on the dangers of ESD.  Donations will offset the cost of printing and mailing literature to improve safety on the waterfront.
