The Old York Road Raiders is a youth hockey program located just outside Philadelphia. We are a small family oriented program who's facility has just one sheet of ice. We compete against many clubs which are quadruple in size. Both in capacity and in the number of players within their organization.
Our 10U AA team has just won the 2016-17 regional Silver Stick qualifier that was held in West Chester PA. Now they have a chance to represent the Philadelphia region by playing in the International Silver Stick Tournament being held in Sarnia Ontarion, Canada. This tournament consists of 12 USA regional qualifying champions and 24 Canadian qualifiers for all over their country.
The regional qualifier was a grueling weekend of 6 games in 3 days played against some of the best teams in PA, NJ & NY. Our team went 6-0 and won the championship game in overtime by a score of 5-4. It was an incredible team effort by everyone. Parents, kids and coaches. We are so proud of our kids effort, determination and sportsmanship!!! At multiple times our team was behind in bot the semi-final and championship games. They never gave up!
We have also been selected to represent Philadelphia in the East vs West PA Showdown, This tournament consists of some of the best teams from the Philadelphia and the Pittsburgh areas and will give state bragging rights to one of the two cities.
It will be held in Pittsburgh during NHL Stadium Series weekend where the Flyers and Penguins will play outdoors at Heinz Field.
Hockey is a very expensive sport and many of our families sacrifice a lot just to play locally. Many can not afford to travel to these events so to play in these tournaments we need to fund raise a lot.
Our players are so dedicated and work incredibly hard. They deserve to represent this great city of Philadelphia and the Old York Road Raiders in these two tremendous events.
Please help us in any way that you can. No donation is too small.
We promise to do Philadelphia and our club proud!!!!
