Jason Rodgers medical fund

As many of you have learned Jason Rodgers has been hospitalized since Saturday morning October 1st 2016.  Jason was having severe back pain and went to stand up where he noticed he was feeling weakness in his legs he then started to feel himself fall and tried catching himself but went to the floor. At that point Jason tried to regain strength and pull himself up to then realize he could no longer feel his legs and could not move. The ambulance was called and Jason was taken to Mary Washington Hospital where he underwent a series of tests such as a CT scan and 2 MRI's on his back. The tests came back and showed Jason had a large mass on his spinal cord that was pressing down and in turn causing his paralysis. The doctors at that point decided it was in Jason's best interest to transport him to VCU hospital in Richmond for emergency surgery on his spine to remove the large mass. Jason was transported and underwent a 2 hour surgery where the doctors did remove the mass along with some of his vertabrae the mass had grown upon. The doctors then came out to let the family know that Jason had a severe infection in his blood at that point the doctors asked if he had been sick or knew of anything that had happened to Jason. It was then put together that the initial infection had come from a thorn Jason had got stuck in his arm.  The sight later became infected.  When Jason went to seek treatment for that he then had to have an iv of antibiotics put in his arm. The iv sight later developed a hematoma and would not heal properly due to the infection becoming worse and Jason having a low immune system due to complications that a rise from being a diabetic. The antibiotics that were given were apparently not strong enough and or not administered by the doctors for a long enough period of time therefore resulting in the infection growing and causing the large mass to grow on his spine and now causing the paralysis that Jason is going through. The doctors have told us that they do not know if the damage is permanent it is a waiting game as we the family and Jason continue to pray for his recovery and try to take on a positive outlook in this long road for his recovery. As Jason goes through this process we would like for him and the doctors to be able to focus on the medical and healing process and not the cost as Jason has no medical insurance. This will be a long expensive process and are asking on behalf of Jason for your generous donations for medical expenses and prayers as he tries to regain feeling and movement in his legs again. We the family would like to thank you for all your help and appreciate all the love and support you have given and shown Jason and the family as we all rally around Jason and pray for his recovery. Contributions can be made thru the go fund me sight or if you would like to make donations in other ways please contact us through the sight. Again we appreciate each and every one of you for keeping Jason in your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to update everyone as we learn more through out.
