Hi! My name is Eryka, and my family and I decided to set up a gofundme account to help raise funds for my aunt, Tonet del Rosario Martin, who is currently undergoing a medical treatment for her sarcoma which has metastasized to her lungs.
My aunt's journey started in July 2009, when she first felt a mass on her jaw. Upon consultation, it was discovered that she had a Benign Fibrohistiocystic tumor. She was then advised to continue observing the activity in her jaw.
In April 2010, the mass recurred and was now accompanied by pain. Biopsy results now revealed a Malignant Fibrohistiocytoma (High Grade Sarcoma T/C Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma, Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor) . She then underwent two surgeries since but in July 2011, she noticed a growth on the same area.
Since October 2011, my aunt has undergone six chemotherapy sessions, immunotherapy in China, alternative medicine and radiation therapy to address her current condition. It was also discovered that there was a new growth on her left lung. Just last month, she decided to go to the US in hopes of qualifying for a clinical trial for sarcoma that has metastasized to the lungs. Due to the cost of the treatment, however, and with her wanting to be near her children, she decided to go back to the Philippines to have her treatment continued.
We're very lucky that we are a family whose life revolves around medicine, and that help was always available when we needed it; however, we have also invested a lot throughout the years. Now, we have decided to seek assistance from your kind hearts.
So here we are, knocking on your doors, to help us continue with Tonet's journey to healing. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy back in the Philippines, with each cycle deemed to cost approximately 100,000 pesos. She is set to go on six cycles and has just finished her first and is recovering well. We are very grateful to everyone who has offered their assistance, and will continue to be grateful to everybody else who will be willing to give. Any amount will be a huge help towards reaching our goal.
