Fighting ALS for my Father

Hello my name is Dustin Harvey, I am a loving husband trying to raise money for my father in-law (Johnny Chacon) suffering from the devastating disease “ALS”, or “amyotrophic lateral sclerosis”. Around June 2014 Johnny was diagnosed with ALS, beginning the most challenging fight for life I have ever personally seen, and he continues to fight every day!
In early 2015 he went to the urgent care for trouble breathing, which quickly turned into a tough week or so in ICU once we found out he had pneumonia which can be deadly for a person with ALS. Needless to say… it scared the hell me! At his bed side I pulled out of my bag the engagement ring I planned to give Brianna that I had been hiding with me at all times so she couldn’t find it and I asked for his blessing to marry his only daughter. His tears of joy and “elephant trunk” noise his bi-pap makes, I knew that he approved. After many tears and with constant positive reinforcement from family and friends Johnny was able to fight his way out of the hospital and back at home with us. From that moment on I had only one thing on my mind, he WILL walk his daughter down the aisle! July 15, 2016 my dreams came true and Johnny walked Brianna down the aisle, and was even able stand for part of their father- daughter dance, Brianna put him in his wheel chair so they could finish their song together. It was beautiful!
I know Johnny did everything he could to make that magical day happen for his daughter. In return, I will do anything and everything I can to make his dreams come true, and keep him here with us as long as possible! And wow! What I would do, to be able to cook family dinner side by side with him just one more time like we used to.
I am reaching out to raise money to help support and provide for my father in-law with ALS. All money donated will go straight to Johnny for medical bills, medications, life support equipment, and anything to help deal with this terrible disease.
He’s just the nicest guy you could ever meet! Help me, help him through this incredibly tough time!
