SEE UPDATE:
On August 27th, 2016 Kristian started out on a Sunday morning routine mountain bike ride a mile in he had fallen and had broken his Tibia and Fibula, a compound spiral fracture. He was borderline Compartmental Syndrome and as a result could not have internal surgery for a month. He was put in a external fixator cage. Over the next year and half he suffered many complications, breaking screws and hardware, bone grafts and removing sections of bone from an infection, breaking of screws again and a dozen surgeries, after suffering infections and numerous surgeries along with chronic pain and two options. he was faced with reality of having the left leg below the knee amputated he researched and found that surgery one would leave him with a fused ankle and a 2- 2 1/2” shorter leg, Amputation was the best option, giving him a chance to be able to run again so on December 8, 2017 he underwent a below the knee Amputation.
Over the last two years he has suffered the loss of his leg and not being able to work with no income he has had to use his 401 k and any other resources just to stay alive and pay bills.
As many of you know as a result from this tragic experience Kris has had a burning want and need to help others who experience similar injuries and he is going to work on a career in Prosthetics or Orthopedics so as soon as he gets his new prosthetic and gets walking he will be working on a career in that field. He is full of life and is excited about the next journey but in order to make that happen he needs your help.
The cost of Prosthetics is very expensive and insurance will cover the initial prosthetic but additional ones are not covered and there are over $80,000 that is not covered. It’s been a very difficult time financially having to lose his job in 2016 and not be able to get back to work since. Losing his house and bills piling up he has been unable to keep his place. He has 3 boys and is a loving father with a very positive outlook on life and lives it to the fullest.
If anyone knows Kris you know he would do the same, he is passionate and loving with a love for the outdoors and a passion of life most others take for granted. If you can help and or can just share this link we really appreciate all that you can and have done to help Kris thru this tragic event. He is forever grateful !!!
Thanks Again, Mather Family
