Just a few days ago, my friend, Sheldon "Shelty" Smith, passed away after a long illness.  He was only 46.  Shelty, former husband to Alina Perez, was my neighbor for many years here in Cape Elizabeth, and was always there when my family or any friend needed him.  He was a scholarly outdoorsman who at the same time could build or repair anything and cook like a gourmet chef.  He truly was a gentle soul and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  Shelty adored his children and would want for us, in some way, to look after them now that he has left us.  Donations to this fund will go directly to the educational expenses of his children: Maria (15), Ethan (12), and Dara (11).
