Veterans Wall Memorial Feb. 2-5
Donation protected
Aransas County Navigation District has made it possible to host The Wall That Heals Exhibit in Rockport, Texas during the 2017 tour February 2-5, 2017 at the Festival Grounds at Rockport Harbor.
The Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile Education Center will be open and free to the public. The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the U.S. Armed forces during the Vietnam War and its walls bear the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is the most visited memorial in our Nation’s Capital, with more than four million visitors each year. However, many Americans have not been able to visit what has become known to many as “The Wall.” The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund (VVMF), the organization that built The Wall, wants to give all veterans and their family members all across America an opportunity to see the Memorial.
School groups from surrounding Education Service Centers will be invited to tour the site.
There will be Memorial Services, Candlelight Ceremonies, Patriotic Music Performances and honors and tributes throughout the four days.
It is our desire to raise enough money to memorialize and grace the site with flags, wreaths and flowers, to put T-Shirts on the more than 100 volunteers who will be guarding The Wall from its arrival to its departure.
As soon as we get the funds, we can begin to beautify the site into something we can all be so very proud of. It is our desire to have the funds by mid-January.
