Study under H.E. Garchen Rinpoche

I have a special opportunity that I feel I have been waiting a very long while for.  As some of you know I have been studying Buddhism since I was a teenager.  I have been very drawn to the Drikung Kagyu Lineage and I feel this is because I have a strong karmic commitment to practicing for the benefit of all living beings.  There have been strong periods of practice in my life and I have contemplated becoming a monk.  I know this is not my path, and that I am best in service as a layperson.  Most recently a string of “coincidences” has occurred that has led me to a precious opportunity.

The Drikung Kagyu Lineage is still practiced with unbroken person-to-person teachings.  During the Chinese occupation of Tibet, this lineage was almost broken and there remain few masters that are passing on teachings.  I have made a connection through my recent Reiki Master Lama Tenzin Sherpa who has advised me to go learn under his Teacher His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche.  The teachings are being held in Arizona for ten days during the New Year.  When I contemplate this possibility I am brought to tears with overwhelming emotion.  I know this is something I am supposed to do.

Why am I asking for help?  This is my last semester of nursing school that has been almost an 8 year journey.  This semester has been extremely difficult having clinical rotations on 12 hour overnights in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care.  This trip seems financially impossible and that’s why I am asking for help.  For tuition, airfare, sleeping accommodations and for meals the total cost is nearly 1K.  I would wait until I start making more money as a nurse but H.E. Garchen Rinpoche is very old and waiting could mean missing this opportunity.  I am doing this for the sake of all other beings, it is not an easy ten days, but it is deep in my heart to complete this practice.  Thank you for taking the time and considering.
