Are you kidding me! I've been lucky enough to spend the last ten years with Crystal. Only ten years!? I guess time flies when you are having fun and are in love. How much I have yet to learn about this unique and inspiring woman. A woman so bright, cheeky and cheerful that every single day is a new and exciting adventure. How blessed we have been to have our youth and health mold us into who we are today. But hey, what’s life without a few curveballs.
As some of you know and many who don’t. My beautiful partner in crime, soul mate and best friend has been battling stage 2A breast cancer for over six months now. We have a long and arduous journey ahead of us, and it looks quite a bit different from our previous adventures and jaunts around the globe. But the ship has sailed, and we are smack bang in the middle of the ocean.
Crystal has continued to blow my mind with her positivity and optimism thus far. She never ceases to amaze me; she is a teacher, a friend and an inspiration.
Fortunately, her cancer is curable, but to get the best treatment, care and to secure the absolute best outcome, you must go the extra mile. This includes unconventional treatments that aren’t covered under healthcare.
Another thing that puts us in muddy water is that, unfortunately, Crystal was let go from her dream job during the pandemic, leaving her uninsured and with no health benefits.
I could never have anticipated all the unforeseen costs with this horrible disease. For instance, the chances of Crystal conceiving children naturally after chemotherapy is a big unknown so we had to do a rushed IVF procedure to fertilize and freeze whatever eggs she had at the time. She has had countless needles in her body for Vitamin C infusions, mistletoe, Iron, poked and prodded in the ovaries to suppress her womanly mechanics. The list goes on and on.
We have been fortunate enough to never have had to ask for help in the past, but we have both decided that if there is ever a time, this is it. What could be a better time to reach out for help to all the amazing people we have in our lives? All we want is for Crystal to come out the other side of this healthier than when she went in. To alleviate the physical and financial pains of this illness we ask for your financial support.
Living off one paycheque with no savings and astronomical treatment costs is going to put us very deeply in the hole. Or should I say the Marianas trench (the ocean reference). Honestly, anything will help.
We really hope we never have to do the same for any of you. But believe me if that time comes, we will be first in line.
Thank you all so much for any contribution you can make. Any generosity you show will give us a better future.
Thank you from the depths of our beings.
Jared and Crystal.
