A Memorial Donation for Donna
Donation protected
For those of you that don't know me, my name is Rachel and I'm the current undergraduate president of the Princeton Tower Club. Last week, our Assistant Manager Donna Furstenburg passed away after a long battle with cancer. Given how much she's given to the club, we're working to make a donation in her name to the Fox Chase Cancer Center, where her family has requested all donations should go.
For those of you that didn't have the privilege of knowing her personally, here's a little bit about how she has contributed to the club over the last 28 years from Jim:
"Donna started at Tower Club in 1990 as Sous Chef. She quickly endeared herself to the membership with her caring and loving nature which also translated into her food. One of her favorite sayings was “Let’s kick it up a notch!”
In September of 1993, the Tower board decided to go in another direction and dismissed their long-time head chef. The board hired Jim Forkel as the new head chef and asked him to keep Donna on staff, largely due to the overwhelming pleas of undergraduate members. That started a 25 year relationship between Jim and Donna that helped turn Tower Club into one of the most popular eating clubs at Princeton. Through the years Jim became the full time General Manager and Donna became Executive Chef. Donna always had an eye for detail, presentation and possessed a flair for taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary!
Donna spent the last 10 years as Assistant Manager and steward of Tower Club. She did all of the ordering of food and supplies and always looked for ways to save the club money while keeping the high standard of food quality she helped to set. Another one of her famous sayings she would always tell salespeople was, “I am looking for the best bang for my buck!” Donna herself was simply priceless!"
We are incredibly grateful for her invaluable contributions to the Tower community, so let's come together as a club community and honor the incredible, warm, dedicated person we were all so lucky to know.
If you'd also like to contribute warm memories or stories of Donna to the gift that we're going to present her family at the end of next week, do so in this google form: https://goo.gl/forms/dygQ5K5EU9UKXcY33
