Hello my name is Nikiya Macdowall. I am Sean Mead's Girlfriend & close family friend. I created this fundraiser on behalf of the Mead Family so that friends and family near and far can stay in the loop as far as Bob Mead's health and status goes. Those of you whom can help, will be able to do so easily with just the click of a button.
A quick recap: Bob was diagnosed with Stage 2 bladder Cancer at the end of May. After a poor reaction to the Chemotherapy, the Doctors decided that the best approach was a surgical one. On August 27th, Bob underwent what seemed to be a successful bladder resection surgery. Shortly after surgery his recovery was complicated by multiple infections that have been resistant to antibiotics thus far. He then developed an ileus, began to exhibit altered mental status, confusion, and went into acute renal failure. On Wednesday, September 28th, he was moved to the ICU and intubated for airway protection. He remains on broad spectrum antibiotics, CRRT for renal failure, and he is still intubated and sedated. He follows simple commands and is sometimes more responsive than others. At this moment he is stable, however, not stable enough to extubate or move to a lower level of care. We continue to be hopeful but the sepsis will take time to beat related to his already compromised immune system.
This unfortunate situation has imposed immense strain on the Mead Family. Since Bob's decline in health, his family members have made the ICU their second home. They have had to make sacrifices due to their financial burdens as Bob runs his own buisness, but is unable to do so in his current condition. This is where I want to step in and help out.
Bob is a father of 4 children, a husband of 37 years, and a friend to everyone that he meets. Any donations, prayers, and positive reinforcement will be greatly appreciated during this time. Thank you so much!
