Dear Friends,
It is with great humility and more than a little embarrassment that I reach out to you at a very difficult time. I need help to re-foot myself financially and I need it rather urgently.
As some of you will recall, I endured a very difficult health situation in 2019 when blood clots caused by an allergic reaction (HIT) to the blood thinner, Heparin, stopped my heart and greatly exacerbated my already fragile condition with congestive heart failure and a compromised left ventricle. At that time, I had been intubated, placed in a medicinal coma at Long Beach Memorial in CA, and left to kind of hope for the best without medical insurance.
Totally wiped out from medical expenses, I was, thanks to some much-appreciated help at the time, able to cover some of my medical bills and hotel expenses until I was able to work full-force again. The lingering problem, however, has been that the unpaid medical bills destroyed my credit and made it impossible for me to rent an affordable apartment. Since then, I have been on a roller coaster ride from hell. Without any living family to assist me, I have taken on more clients than I can handle in my condition (I’m a top educational consultant) and worked myself to the ground, only to spend my income to have an overpriced place to sleep. This “work too hard – get sick -- recover – do it again” approach has not worked and my heart has continued to enlarge, with an unimproved ejection fraction of just 20% (normal is 70%+), and some newer complications.
I’ve tried just about everything along the way to reduce my housing costs, including living in some very unsavory places, but, at the end of the day, these efforts have set back my health because I’m too fragile. I know the only way to push through this perpetual problem is to find a co-signer, get an affordable apartment, and build a financial cushion of some sort.
Although I am doing a Go Fund Me, I want to make it clear that I fully intend to repay any monies raised as soon as I am capable. We are all in different financial positions, but, at the end of the day, we all have various financial obligations and constraints. With that understanding, I am seeking temporary support, not a “gift.”
I very much appreciate any assistance that you can provide at this difficult time.
