Get Kitty off the island!
Donation protected
Due to an unfortunate miscommunication between my family and I, my cat Kitty has been put into a shelter, Karing Kennels, on Okinawa, Japan. She is an older cat, 8 years old, and the shelter itself is overflowing with cats available for adoption. It is unlikely she will find a suitable forever home.
I would like to get her shipped here to the states, but arranging somebody to re-adopt, handle the paperwork and health certificates, arrange a cargo flight, arrange boarding, and other tasks associated with sending a pet overseas is incredibly expensive. I am currently speaking to several different people referred to by the shelter who are available and knowledgeable in sending pets from Okinawa to the US, but the price ranges from $1,500 to $2,000 up front. I make very little above minimum wage, and am unable to pay these fees myself.
My heart has been broken since I heard the news she was taken to the shelter. I have made many phone calls, sent many emails, and am at my wit's end. I need your help! Kitty is currently boarding at a foster home, but she will be put officially up for adoption on Tuesday, May 7th. I'd like to have things arranged before then, but I will fight for her as long as it takes for me to raise the money.
The sister who dropped Kitty off at Karing Kennels, Cait, wrote a very sweet, heart-felt post online immediately following the drop-off here: http://imgur.com/gallery/nPCAg
She included several photos of my beautiful cat, and the story itself is incredibly sad. I won't let my cat live in a cage. Please help us out!
