Hi! My name is Faith. I am currently enrolled at at North Seattle Community College And have made it through my first year with a 3.93 GPA! I am getting my Associates of Siena direct transfer degree to receive my Bachelors of Science at the University of Washington and apply to the Applied Behavioral Analysis program to get my masters in Special Education.
It took a couple years for me to figure out what I wanted to study. Originally I wanted to go into Nursing to work with children who have Developmental Disabilities, but then I learned about ABA which was exactly what I had wanted to do my entire life, but I didn't know it existed. ABA helps teach children with Autism how to live their lives independently. This is an area of study I am very passionate about because of how I grew up and the hardships I've seen children go threw when they haven't received all the recourses they needed to succeed to the fullest in their lives.
My entire life I've always wanted to work with under privileged children. Working with these kids is something that is very close to home for me because I grew up in a single parent low income home, and the people who supported me most was my mom and my counselors at Meadowbrook Community Center that helped me figure out a lot of things happening in my life. Though my mom is the most influential and supportive person in my life she only started out with an 8th grade education when I was born, and had to pay her way through school while taking care of me and my brother at the same time. She completed Nursing school at the University of Washington and has done her best to support me financially as much as possible, but she still has student loans to pay off and has to provide for my little brother, so she can't afford my tuition alone.
Just recently I sadly had to leave my job as a Registered Behavior Therapist, however, even though it was a very hard and emotional decision for me it was what I needed to do to succeed at school and remember what my end goal is, I still am living on my own which with my income dropping significantly has proven to be especially harder with the cost of leaving her in Seattle.
Anything that you can donate would be greatly appreciated. A little goes a long way. Thank you for considering. If you have any questions you would like to ask me you can send me a message on facebook. Thank you for your time!
I just wanted to give everyone a little update of the progress I made and that I’m so great full for everything I’ve received from everyone and the support I’ve been giving throughout this past year!!
Help spread the word!
