Eva Ivanova Needs Our Help
Donation protected
I always wondered how people could go from having what seems to be a normal life to homless and helpless, but that is where Eva Ivanova is right now.
Eva and I have known each other for 2 years since I found her on a dogsitting site. She is from Bulgaria and lived alone with only her cat and dog. She has been keeping my pups ever since and is the only person I trust with them. 33 Reviews on her dogsitting site prove I am not the only one who trusted her with their furry children.
After being drained financially trying to get a divorce, she lost her home to foreclosure in May of this year. She moved all of her worldly possessions into a storage unit. I put her in an extended stay type of hotel for two weeks so she could have her beloved pets, Happy the dog and Misha the cat with her. She then found a shared living situation that came to an abrupt end Labor Day weekend. She was homeless again. This time, she did not reach out to me.
Eva was arrested on September 8 in Crowley, TX trying to steal animal food and some supplies to go "camping", which is how she described being homeless. The Loss/Prevention person that arrested her stated she seemed very disoriented. They asked her who she came with and she said she was alone. They asked her how she got there and she said she drove. They asked her where her car was and she said she couldn't remember. While they were arresting her, her beloved Happy died in the car even with the windows significantly cracked.
At first she was only charged with the theft but when I went to see her in jail, I truly belive she had "cracked" after the person at the Crowley Animal Services came to see her to inform her of Happy's death and tell Eva she was to blame. She is now being charged with Felony Animal Cruelty!!!!!! This was not intentional, this was a tragedy!
ANYONE who know Eva knows what a blow this is to her and that she would NEVER intentionally hurt an animal.
She has been given a public defender and I have been in contact with him and he is very nice and doing his best for Eva. She is currently pretty incoherent, probably due to the meds, and is in isolation under 24/7 suicide watch. She did not recognize me the 1st time I went to see her but then she told her lawyer that "her friend Stacie came to see her" but she couldn't remember if it was a dream.
Here is the issue: Eva's storage unit with all of her possessions will be auctioned off October 28th if it isn't paid. It is currently at appx. $1000 dollars to save it. I spoke to them and if 75% is paid and the contents are removed in the same day, prior to the auction, it can be saved.
Secondly, her car is at B W Towing in Burleson and is also currently at appx $900-$1k to remove and adding at $20 a day. They will hold the car "approximately" 50 days from the day they received it which was September 8th.
I do not know what will happen to Eva when she is released but I know this....currently when she gets out, she will have NOTHING...not her beloved pets or even a car to live in like she was.
My goal is to save the car 1st and the storage unit if at all possible. Any amount you donate will be appreciated. If I do not raise enough to save either, the money will be saved until she is released and used to find her accomodations and get back on her feet.
I cannot imagine being from a foreign country, locked up with no close friends or resources to help myself. Thank you for anything you can donate, no amount is too small. She is going to need a support network of some sort when she is released. Right now we do not know when that will be as there is no bail amount set due to her not being stable enough to be in front of the judge. Her attorney has filed a motion for a psychological study to see if she is fit to stand trial.
If you cannot donate but have experience with finding resources for someone like this, please each out to me as well. She is def going to need more than just financial assistance when released.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, I have rackedmy brain trying to come up with a solution and this is a last resort.
