Hello family and friends! As most of you know, we recently welcomed Ophelia’s little sister Adelaide into the world! Adelaide was born on June 22nd at 2:54am at Tufts Medical Center in Boston weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 19.25” long! Addy had a bit of a bumpy start after one of her lungs collapsed and she had to stay in the NICU at Tufts for 10 days. Jonathan and I spent almost all of our time visiting and sitting by her bedside. Throughout this time, we were able to get to know many of the *amazing* staff at Tufts NICU and will forever be grateful for all that they do.
We learned that like many other programs throughout the hospital, they rely heavily on donations in order to help families with babies in the NICU. Our stay in the NICU was exceptionally shorter than most others and some families have to travel over an hour each way to visit their babies. Through donations, Tufts is able to offer these families things such as gas cards, passes for the parking garages in Boston, and meals while they’re visiting. Jonathan and I had many conversations about what we could do to help show our gratitude for all that the NICU did for us and all that they do for the families that sadly have to spend weeks or sometimes even months there with their babies.
Jonathan and Adelaide’s godfather, Ben, will be riding their bikes from Winthrop to Cape Cod and we will be donating $5 for every mile that they ride (the planned ride will be between 100-140 miles long). We wanted to share this as an opportunity for family and friends to make a donation that will help many families with babies in the NICU. No amount is too small!
xoxo,
Alyssa, Jonathan, Ophelia and Adelaide
